Mountain bike racing returns to KC

Local mountain bike racing returns to KC
You know how you and your friends are always complaining that there's no local mountain bike races in KC?  I mean, how nice would it be to race on some local trails 20 minutes from home for a change? Enter the Urban Dirty winter XC race series!!
Brett Shoffner of Urban Trail Co. and Volker bicycles have partnered up to bring local mtb racing back to KC.  The first installment happened last Sunday at Kessler Park in KCMO and featured rocky/rooty singletrack, some fast grass sections, a little bit of mud and a steep road climb on a 3/4 mile short track style loop.  The weather stayed nice and partcipants stuck around for tasty adult beverages and Colavita sauce prizes from our sponsors.
This Sunday, February 14th promises more technical mtb fun at the Rozarks trail.  South Cherokee street at Mt.  Marty Park.  KCK First race at 1p.m.  Men's cat 1/2 race at 2 p.m.
Here's the good part:  races every Sunday in Feb.  USAC sanctioned.  Haven't renewed your racing license yet? No problem.  We'll pay your one day license fee.  You heard me.  WE WILL PAY YOUR ONE DAY LICENSE FEE!  That means if you've never had a USAC license and want to try your hand at racing, it will only cost you the $20 for an entry fee.  Same for if you haven't renewed yet for the year.  Perfect time to get in on some low cost, fun local racing.  There will be prizes for the overall series.  45 min race for Fatbike, single speed, women's 1/2/3, men's cat 3.  1hr for men's cat 1/2.  Wanna be a hardass and get some training for your upcoming marathon race?  Race the second race for only 10 bucks.
Look us up on facebook at Urban Dirty winter series, or email volkerbicycles@gmail.com with any questions.  Bring your friends and families to race, cheer, heckle and enjoy.  All proceeds go directly back into maintaining and expanding the local trails.
